Lighting Workshop Module #1

For this week we were taught how to properly set up 3-point lighting for showing off our models. 3-point lighting refers to the use of a key, rim, and fill light. Each light serves its own purpose, the key acting as the main light source illuminating the subject. The rim light serves to separate the edges of the subject and separate it from the background. The fill or bounce lighting serves to brighten up the shadows and bring clarity to the subject. The use of all three lights is known as 3-point lighting. In the colored images, each light is given its own color, red for key, green for fill, and blue for rim.

3D Art Assignment 5: Chest Blockout

In this assignment we were tasked with selecting either a crate, a barrel, or a chest for a 3 week project in which we would block it out, sculpt on it, and create a game ready asset.

I chose to do a chest as I wanted to challenge myself - and challenge myself I did.

Below is the reference I selected and the final render of the blockout.

3D Art Assignment 2: Minecraft Level

In this assignment we were tasked with creating a Minecraft level in UE5.

For my rendition I chose to create a structure named a desert well.

To start off I created a block in blender for every block shape I intended to use in the final scene. After this I created a texture for each block and applied the texture to a material for each block.

After this, I then exported the blocks and the textures to unreal and built the scene.
